Helping current and future third culture kids thrive socially, communicate confidently, and maintain emotional stability overseas
What is a Third Culture Kid?
Third Culture Kids are children who straddle in between two or more cultures, forming their own “third culture”.
Meet Teresa
Teresa grew up between Beijing and Los Angeles and is currently based in New York City. Having experienced the psychological and cultural complexities of growing up as a TCK, she now works with families worldwide to help students establish a strong emotional, social, and academic foundation as they enter a new chapter abroad.
My Approach
My approach is rooted in the belief that successful international student transitions require more than academic preparation. True adjustment happens when students are supported emotionally, socially, and culturally before challenges become visible. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all framework, I focus on understanding each student’s background, family dynamics, and developmental stage.
This work is both preventative and integrative. By addressing emotional processing, identity formation, and communication skills alongside academic and social expectations, students are better equipped to build resilience, form meaningful relationships, and navigate cultural complexity with confidence.
Areas of Expertise
Through my work with families, there are a few themes I see in international students who are culturally transitioning to the US that I have extensive experience in guiding students through.
